Hepatoprotective Activity of Aqueous Extract of Cashew Apple Cake (Anacardium occidentale L.) in Rats and Mice

Aims: The aqueous extract of cashew apple cakes, rich in molecules pharmacological interest, could be used against many diseases. Thus, the aim present work is to evaluate its hepatoprotective activity rats and mice. 
 Methodology: Two batches weighing between 200 300 grams, with five per batch, were pretreated for eleven days cakes at concentrations ranging from 150 mg.Kg-1 bw, then intoxicated paracetamol 2 g.Kg-1 three days. blood these was collected submitted biochemical analyses. mice 20 30 same test substance also before receiving phenobarbital. Afterwards, their sleep time evaluated.
 Results: In rats, intoxication materialized by increase serum ALT 109±5.19 571±20.28 IU.L-1 that AST 144±5.77 428±14.19 IU.L-1. Similarly, direct bilirubin increased 0 1.08± 0.58 mg.dl-1. These increases transaminase levels significantly decreased cake. mice, phenobarbital showed a 29.82 38.59% decrease cakes.
 Conclusion: influencing parameters such as ALT, AST, time, therefore prevention liver diseases, traditional medicine.
